VAS 2025 Christmas Charity Campaign: Supporting families and communities across Teesside

11th December 2025

VAS is proud to continue its annual tradition of giving back to the communities we call home through the 2025 Christmas Charity Campaign. Rooted in our commitment to supporting local families across Teesside, this year’s initiative brought together colleagues from across the business to make a meaningful difference during what can be a challenging time of year.

This year, VAS supported two vital Teesside-based organisations whose services play an essential role in the wellbeing of local people:

CAUSE Foundation

A charity dedicated to providing personalised Christmas hampers for families and individuals experiencing hardship. CAUSE ensures that those who may otherwise go without can still enjoy food, essentials and thoughtful gifts over the festive season.

Redcar Foodbank

Part of the Trussell Trust network, Redcar Foodbank provides emergency food parcels and essentials across nine foodbanks in Redcar and East Cleveland, covering an 18-mile radius and supporting up to 500 people every week.

The CAUSE Foundation Hamper Challenge

One of the highlights of this year’s campaign was the VAS Hamper Challenge.

Each of our six teams was allocated two nominated families and a budget to create thoughtful, personalised hampers. The results were truly outstanding.

Our colleagues went above and beyond in curating food, household items and gifts tailored to the families’ needs — demonstrating genuine compassion, teamwork and festive spirit. The hampers were delivered to the CAUSE Foundation drop-off point at the Riverside Stadium on 4 December.

A heartfelt thank you goes to our co-founders, Gina and Steve, for funding the hampers and supporting this important initiative. Their commitment enabled VAS to provide 12 families with support, care and joy this Christmas.

Supporting Redcar Foodbank: Donation and Site Visit

In addition to the hampers, VAS also ran a company-wide collection for Redcar Foodbank. This included tinned foods, toiletries and small gifts, with every donation helping people in immediate need across the region.

As part of this effort, team members Ashley Kirton and Joely Clark visited the Redcar Foodbank distribution centre to deliver our donation and learn more about their vital work. They met with Fiona Lumley, Assistant Manager at the Trussell Trust, who expressed her sincere gratitude and emphasised the significant impact the donation will have.

Given the rising demand for support—particularly during school holidays—VAS is planning an additional collection ahead of the summer break, another period where families often face increased pressures.

Across the organisation, the 2025 Christmas Charity Campaign has showcased the generosity, kindness and community-focused values at the heart of VAS. Whether through crafting personalised hampers or contributing to essential foodbank resources, our teams have demonstrated a shared commitment to supporting those around us.

As HR Manager Joely Clark reflected:

“Our Christmas Charity Campaign is a key moment in our year. As a Middlesbrough-based business, supporting local families and communities is incredibly important to us. We’re proud to stand alongside CAUSE Foundation and Redcar Foodbank—two organisations doing exceptional work across Teesside.”

VAS remains dedicated to supporting the region we are proud to be part of. We will continue to champion local organisations that deliver direct, meaningful support to families and individuals across Teesside.
